Outline
The STIM Developments team breathed new life into what was once an old Mock Tudor-style semi-detached house, carrying out a full renovation that included adding extra insulation, replumbing, and a complete rewiring of the house, along with a loft extension. The work was completed under permitted development rights and involved adding a rear dormer to create a spacious master bedroom with an ensuite in the loft.
Challenges
In this case, unexpected costs arose, including the replacement of the existing staircase due to insufficient headroom, which was below 2 metres and did not comply with current UK building regulations. Additionally, the property fell short of modern standards, necessitating further
enhancements to improve the home’s energy performance. All existing single-brick walls were internally insulated.
